I have heard of the White Cliffs of Dover since childhood and so it was a special treat to finally see them in person.  The White Cliffs of Dover are cliffs which form part of the British coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France. The cliffs spread east and west from the town of Dover in the county of Kent, an ancient and still important English port. So impressive and dramatic... they are a recognizable landmark to those approaching the port of Dover from the English Channel and important not only for England, but is world famous. For many people the White Cliffs of Dover are a clear symbol of Britain in the way the Statue of Liberty defines America for many.

The cliffs are a symbol the British identify with because they stand immovable. Have you ever interested how were they formed? The history of the cliffs is fascinating.
The cliffs are made from chalk, a soft white, very finely grained pure limestone, and are commonly 300-400m deep. The chalk layers built up gradually over millions of years. They're formed from the skeletal remains of minute planktonic green algae that lived floating in the upper levels of the ocean. When the algae died, their remains sank to the bottom of the ocean and combined with the remains of other creatures to form the chalk that shapes the cliffs today.
There is a small entrance fee (£3.50 per car) unless you are a National Trust member. Once parked up you are free to wander the site until it closes. By the car park there is a café and gift store, toilets. Of course the main attraction here is the walk along the cliffs.
When the weather is good, you can see France from here. You can wander as far as you like – if you have a lot of time then at the far end of the walk is the South Foreland Lighthouse, but that will take you some time to get to. About this you can see in my next post. The picturesque views were outstanding and would highly recommend.
Breathtaking. But be aware of the cliff edge – there are sheer drops down to the rocks/water and there are no safety barriers.
On me today comfortable great quality boho skirt, wind was playing with it and i just adore this!Berry - honey colours. A little bit like autumn, but's time to start thinking about autumn, and it will be also beautiful, right?
